Local Walk

9.5 mile Figure of 8 taking in the village of Welford,Sibbertoft, River Avon and parts of the Grand Union Canal.

The walk starts at 10:30 prompt from the Wharf Inn (NN6 6JQ) in Welford, just in front of Welford Marina.****

Local directions to the pub: If coming from the south drive through Welford along the A5199 and as you start to leave the village the pub will appear on your left. To the rear of the pub there is visitor parking so please aim to park there. However if this is full please park considerately in the pub car park or wherever will cause minimal inconvenience to any lunchtime pub punters.

The morning section of the walk is a 6 mile circular leaving from the village of Welford, following part of the Jurassic Way and taking in the site of the Medieval village of Sulby. The halfway point of the morning walk is the historic village of Sibbertoft. Then we return back to Welford through open fields and past a short stretch of the River Avon.

Return to the Warf Inn 12:30-1pm. If joining us for the afternoon portion of the walk please contact me beforehand and I’ll send you my mobile number so we know to expect you.

The pub has plenty of outdoor seating and the landlord is more than happy for us to utilize aforementioned picnic benches to eat our sandwiches and glug our ale. The Warf Inn is a great dog friendly pub boasting a tantalising array of real ales.....most worthy of note on my last visit was a cheeky little number called Mad Jaffa standing at 7%!! A few of those and ‘standing’ you won’t be!

The afternoon portion of the walk will be a shorter relaxed 3.5 mile loop taking in parts of the Grand Union Canal and views of the surrounding area.

The walk offers gentle undulations but nothing strenuous.
